LG and Qualcomm launch GM730 touchscreen smartphone in India

At an event in New Delhi on Wednesday, mobile manufacturer LG India and chipset manufacturer Qualcomm launched their latest collaborative effort in the Indian market, the GM730 smartphone. Here’s the press release:

Powered by Qualcomm’s MSM7201A 528 MHz processor, the LG GM730 stands just 11.9 mm thick and is highlighted by an elegant chrome band and smooth, rounded edges.
Built around a 3D cube layout, the S-class UI of LG GM730 and Windows Mobile combination makes the device quite easy to operate. Email, for example, is easier to set up and use because the phone’s schedule and contact lists are connected.
This means users can send and receive messages using less key presses than on regular smartphones, making the process of sending an email smoother than ever.
Advanced multimedia features such as a 5 megapixel camera, MP3 player and numerous action-packed games make this phone a full-featured entertainment device.
Networking on the Map Service, a navigation-based social networking service, enables users to see where their friends are while communicating in real time. GM730 also comes equipped with a GPS for easy navigation through unknown areas.
The launch coincides with the opening of LG Application Store, which currently has over 1,400 apps available, with more than 100 being free to download.
The LG-GM730 will be made available later this month for an estimated retail price of Rs 24,000
